Adult Cat Adoption Process

🐾 Welcome to the SOS Pet Rescue Family!

Thank you for choosing to adopt a cat in need! Below is everything you need to know about our process—what’s included, what to expect, and how to prepare. If you have any questions, we’re always here to help.

🐱 Cat Adoption Timeline

🏡 Foster Care: Cats stay in foster care until they are healthy, vaccinated, and spayed or neutered.
✂️ Spay/Neuter: All cats are altered prior to adoption.
📅 Scheduling: We’ll coordinate with you to set an adoption date once your cat is ready.
📲 Checkout: A Shelterluv checkout link will be texted to you 1–2 days before adoption, after we update their surgery records.
📧 Medical Records: After checkout, we’ll email:
- Your cat’s full medical history
- Informational materials
- Microchip info and rabies tag details

💰 Adoption Fee

$100 per cat

✅ Microchip (with lifetime registration)
✅ Rabies Vaccine
✅ FVRCP Vaccine (may need 1 booster after adoption)
✅ Flea & Tick Preventative
✅ Dewormings
✅ FELV/FIV Testing
✅ Fecal Testing

🧳 Adoption Day Checklist

🧺 Bring a secure cat carrier to safely transport your new companion.
📬 All medical records will be emailed. You’ll receive:
- Microchip registration info
- Rabies tag

💡 Your cat’s microchip is automatically registered with PetLink. You’ll get an email from them and can manage your contact info at any time.
