Meet the Directors
When we made the decision to start this journey, we knew we wanted a strong team of trustworthy, dedicated and compassionate board members to lead our organization. We have no doubt that this group of incredible women is going to help us succeed at our mission.
President Sandra Fellin has years of rescue, leadership, and board experience. She also cares for local ferals, she has a former feral, turned house cat, with love and care. She is looking forward to showing that this is what SOS can do. Help. Home. Protect. Care.
Vice President Lanore Baier was a veterinary technician for 33 years working in general practice, The Seeing Eye, emergency, and oncology. Lanore’s soft spot is for senior dogs with special needs and each one has known a peaceful and loving home in their final years.
Treasurer Lyn Bailey is an upstanding member of our community and her professional expertise, ethics, and compassionate nature are a huge asset to SOS Pet Rescue.
Secretary Flora Schubert is a foster extraordinaire who has a wonderful team to help. Fostering has become part of her family culture over the years. She looks forward to helping others learn about the difference that they can make by fostering animals until they find their forever homes.
Cynthia von Schlichten, Esq. is a lifelong animal rights advocate (which all started by working in a shelter and as a veterinary technician so many years ago!) and has been practicing law for over 14 years. She is currently the General Counsel for the nonprofit, Farm Sanctuary, Inc. and also does volunteer work with her husband for a local cat rescue. Cynthia has an LLM in Animal Law from Lewis & Clark Law School’s Center for Animal Law Studies (CALS) and is now an adjunct professor for CALS. Cynthia is also a member of the American Bar Association’s Animal Law Committee, its Animals in Agriculture subcommittee, and is co-chair of its International Animal Law subcommittee. She is a regular speaker on animal rights/welfare issues, both in the U.S. and internationally. For over 20 years, Cynthia has been a dedicated participant in this movement and remains impassioned about taking on the challenges ahead to make the world a better place for animals. She shares her home with her husband and 10 cats.
In memory of board Vice President, Fundraising Committee Chairperson, foster and friend, Heidi Pope. If you ever had the pleasure of meeting Heidi, we’re sure you loved her, as she radiated positivity, warmth and light. She was the most generous and helpful person, always willing to lend a hand. Her focus was continually on helping as many animals as she could, volunteering countless hours for several organizations, and constantly making space for fosters in need. Her passion for animal rescue is leaving behind a legacy of compassion, in the lives of the people and animals she touched. Heidi inspired us all and our hope is that in this loss, more people will be encouraged to volunteer and foster in her honor.
